Established in 1979, HomeSafe has maintained its focus on helping foster care children in South Florida who have experienced extreme trauma and emotional abuse. These children come to HomeSafe appointed through the court system and are often living in the “fight or flight” mode. HomeSafe steps in and provides them with a safe harbor to heal from their trauma and teaches them life skills and healthy coping mechanisms. In recent years, there has been a growing trend for residential treatment facilities of all types to consider the Trauma Informed Design principles when space planning. By following the TI Design philosophy, you can significantly contribute to the overall well-being and recovery of your residents. HomeSafe follows the three C’s of TI Design: comfort, control, and community in their residential design practices.

They want the children to feel comfort by being treated with more warmth and kindness than they have likely ever experienced. HomeSafe wants the kids to feel in control of their environment by ensuring each child has their own private bedroom. Finally, they place an emphasis on community by ensuring there are many ways for the children to interact. Therapeutic offerings include a music room, fitness center, and computer lab. Furniture Concepts was able to support their vision and play an instrumental part by providing furniture that is safe and comfortable.
